Heitkamp’s fervent support of Hillary Clinton focus of new digital ad from Cramer Campaign
Liberal voting record does not represent North Dakota
Bismarck, N.D. – North Dakotans will be reminded of Heidi Heitkamp’s enthusiastic support of Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential campaign in a new digital ad being released by the Cramer for U.S. Senate Campaign.  The digital ad can be viewed here

“When Hillary was running, Senator Heitkamp was a strong vocal supporter of her presidential bid,” said Tim Rasmussen, communications director for Cramer’s campaign.  “We remember that Hillary called Trump supporters racist and backwards as recently as March 2018 in a speech in India. We also remember how Hillary characterized Trump supporters as a ‘basket of deplorables’ during her campaign,” Rasmussen said.

North Dakota overwhelmingly supported Trump in the 2016 presidential campaign where he won by a whopping 36 points over Clinton.  “As the campaign moves forward, it’s important for voters to understand the ideological differences between the candidates,” Rasmussen said. From 2013 to 2016, Heitkamp voted with the Obama administration 88 percent of the time and from 2013 to 2018, she voted with Chuck Schumer 82 percent of time.

“Heitkamp’s support for Clinton and other liberal Democrat party leaders like Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi does not represent the ideology of North Dakota voters. The ad clearly shows her position in her own words.  Heitkamp comes to North Dakota and tells the voters she represents North Dakota, but her active non-election year support for Hillary and other liberal leaders tells a different story,” Rasmussen said.
