Cramer accepts nomination for U.S. Senate run
Bismarck, N.D. – Rep. Kevin Cramer accepted the GOP nomination for the U.S. Senate seat at the statewide republican convention this afternoon.
“Kris and I are so thankful for this support and opportunity this provides to serve this great nation,” Cramer said.  In his speech addressing over 1,600 convention delegates at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, Cramer said the election is not really about Senator Heitkamp or him. “The direction of the nation and the soul of the Senate is at stake,” he said.  “It comes down to this, what kind of nation do we want America to be and what kind of legacy do we want to leave our children and grandchildren?”
Throughout his address, and the nomination speeches from Sen. John Hoeven, and Lori Hinz, a family friend and Bismarck radio and TV personality, the crowd chanted a recurring theme in the Cramer campaign, “one vote matters.”
“We have a razor thin 51-49 majority in the U.S. Senate and one vote could determine whether President Trump or Chuck Schumer picks the next Supreme Court Justice,” Cramer said.  “One vote prevented the U.S. Senate from repealing job-killing regulations threatening our state’s energy development. And, one vote prevented the U.S. Senate from repealing Obamacare and replacing it with a healthcare plan that would have provided more money and flexibility to North Dakota.”
“All of this hangs in the balance,” he said. “One vote could sway these important issues to a liberal philosophy that favors big government and vast entitlement programs. Or, one vote could sway these issues to a conservative view that empowers people and limits government. One vote matters.”
As Cramer closed his speech at the convention, he talked about the importance of listening in Washington D.C. and the honor of serving people. “I am honored to represent North Dakota in our nation’s capital and to serve this great state and nation. Thank you so much for giving me this privilege to serve God by serving you.”
